Ripple Mint Launches to Expand Institutional Access to RLUSD Stablecoin

Key takeaways

Ripple Targets Institutional Stablecoin Operations

Institutional access to the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin was expanded on July 23 when Ripple launched Ripple Minta platform that allows eligible customers to create, trade and manage the regulated stablecoin.

The platform combines a browser-based interface with application programming interfaces (APIs) that enable institutions to automate stablecoin operations, integrate RLUSD into existing systems, and manage digital dollar liquidity on supported blockchain networks. Ripple said the unified platform provides customers with the flexibility to choose between manual and programmatic workflows while reducing operational complexity.

RLUSD is issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company LLC, which has received a New York Department of Financial Services Limited Purpose Trust Charter. This oversight is central to the product’s institutional discourse, as regulated financial firms often require clear compliance and operational standards before adopting a stablecoin.

Automation brings RLUSD into existing systems

Ripple Mint adds APIs, webhook notifications, programmatic balance access, and transaction status tracking to help institutions automate RLUSD activity. Consistent reference IDs connect each step of the minting and redemption process, providing exchanges, market makers and fintech companies with clearer visibility into fiat transfers and blockchain transactions.

Eligible customers can initiate redemptions via the web interface or an API, choose fiat settlement or move RLUSD on supported blockchains, and receive real-time updates for events such as fiat receipt, currency processing, on-chain settlement, and payment completion. Additional automation comes as RLUSD Activity in the XRP Ledger continues to support broader liquidity and institutional use cases.

Ripple is positioning RLUSD for enterprise payments, cross-border settlements, tokenized financial markets, and other institutional financial applications. According to Official overview of Ripple’s RLUSDThe dollar-backed stablecoin is designed to support regulated digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions.

Multichain Expansion Expands RLUSD Availability

The launch also expands RLUSD beyond its original deployments on XRP Ledger and Ethereum. New support is added for XRPL EVM Sidechain, Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain, providing institutions and developers more ways to use the stablecoin in decentralized finance, payments and other blockchain-based services.

The XRPL EVM Sidechain is at the heart of this strategy as it combines Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility with a connection to the XRP Ledger. This structure allows RLUSD to work with Ethereum-based tools and applications while supporting additional liquidity, settlement, and transaction activities within the broader XRP ecosystem.

Wider access to the blockchain builds on the expansion of RLUSD onto additional trading platforms. Previous announcements, including OKX, increased stablecoin availability through major exchangeswhile Binance RLUSD List even wider access for institutions and market players.

Existing RLUSD customers can use Ripple Mint immediately through manual or automated workflows. The company plans to expand the platform into a broader system for institutional stablecoin operations and liquidity management.
