The French prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into X on the alleged use of its algorithm for foreign interference.
According to a declaration of the magistrate Laure Becuau Friday, prosecutors launched an investigation to find out if X violated French law by manipulating its algorithms to fraudulently extract user data.
The investigation was launched after two reports were submitted to the cybercriminal division of the Paris prosecutor on January 12 – one by the deputy Bothorel, member of the whole of the French President Emmanuel Macron, the Party of the Republic, and another by a senior government whose identity was not disclosed.
