The sharp drop occurred in the middle of the acquisition and was related to details that the acquisition of Pump.fun will lead to the discontinuation of the PADRE token.

A panicked community sought to exit, and the market showed up with the token falling over 76% from highs of $0.076 to lows of $0.011 at the time of writing.

Why Pump.fun acquired Padre

Fun.Bomb (BOMB) disclosed the acquisition on October 24, 2025, noting via X that Padre allows the Solana-based memecoin launchpad to expand its traction with one of the industry’s leading trading terminals.

The platform offers users a high-speed trading experience and professional traders can leverage its solution on Solana, BNB Chain, Base and Ethereum. Padre is set to unlock an advanced trading experience for users, said the Pump.fun team.

But while Padre will continue to operate as usual, including access to trading on every launchpad and decentralized exchange on all supported chains, there is one notable change.

And that’s what probably scared token holders.

Pump.fun said the PADRE token “will no longer have any use on the platform.”

In addition, he indicated that there are “no more plans for the future.” No use means no value and brackets can be left hanging and dry.

The community did not take this measure lightly and many condemned it in X, as they made comparisons to what would happen if one public company acquired another.

According a cryptocurrency enthusiastPump.fun should have acquired the PADRE tokens or converted them to the equivalent dollar value in PUMP tokens.
