Google is bringing zero knowledge tests to Google wallet, allowing users to verify their age on websites without revealing personal data such as birth dates.
The privacy improvement function brands An important step to make cryptographic identity tools more accessible, and more invisible, for everyday users.
“When technological giants such as Google begin to integrate zero knowledge tests without problems in their applications, it is a clear sign that privacy -based innovations are becoming conventional,” said Rob Viglione, co -founder of Horizen Labs, in a Crypto.news note. “The next border for our industry is to build compatible privacy solutions that offer greater protection without cargo regulators.”
Age thresholds for online purchases
Google said that ZKP will feed a new form of private age verification through its digital credential API.
The implementation will allow users to demonstrate that they comply with age thresholds for services such as Bumble and Alcohol Purchases, without revealing anything beyond that fact.
“We are developing a system that not only verifies age, but does it in a way that protects its privacy,” Google announced in its blog post. “There is no way to link age with your identity.”
Viglione called this change for a long time. “Privacy should not be a luxury or late occurrence, it should be a breach,” he said. “It is exciting to see the leading companies recognize that.”
As part of the update, Google also plans to open code ZKP Technology, with the aim of helping other wallets and services to adopt characteristics of privacy preservation. The new functionality is being implemented together with an expansion of digital identifications in more US states, the United Kingdom and 50 additional countries.
